Passionate About Pumpkins

This has to be one of the saddest Octobers I have ever experienced in my life. Knowing that we could be moving at any time, I wasn't able to get out my Halloween decorations! It has been killing me! Every where I look, there are Halloween decorations! There have been so many times that I just want to go get the boxes out of the garage and get my Halloween on, but I know that Dan would just think I was crazy. So, I made a compromise. I wouldn't get my old decorations out...but I would allow myself to make a few new! I love pumpkins! I kept the decorations simple...but they are all pumpkins! Can't wait to we are actually in our new home (October 23rd) and I can go crazy with all my Halloween and Pumpkin decor!

Hostile Take Over

When I first set up this blog, it was intended to be a site where both Dan and I could blog about this, that, and the other. You know, things that were important to both of us. It was to be a site that we would share....a site that Dan wouldn't be embarrassed to have his friends and coworkers read. That never happened. Dan never posted anything. I was left to blog alone (sniff, sniff). I tried to blog about things that applied to both of us for awhile, but not anymore. THIS IS A HOSTILE TAKEOVER of our blog! From here on out, this blog will be filled with updates on my latest and craziest crafting escapades. I will blog about all the insanely cute and not so wonderful things my kids do. I will blog and vent about the woes and joys of my so-called life as a SAHM. I'm taking over! I hope you will enjoy the ride!

Just a little up date on our little family!
Brady had kindergarten orientation last friday! He was so excited to go to "the big kid school." It's hard to believe that 5 years have gone by since we brought that little guy home from the hospital and now he is off to conquer the world one kindergarten class at a time.
Lyndsi started ballet classes two weeks ago and is loving every minute of it. She insists on wearing her ballet slippers almost every day and is always asking us to "watch her AWESOME ballet moves!" Her class consists of seven of the most adorable 4 year olds I have ever seen!
Karlee has decided to rebel against the whole crawling movement and has successful mastered the art of "bum scooting." She gets where she wants to go (and where mommy doesn't want her to go) her way....doesn't surprise me; she's my daughter!
Dan has been uber busy with work and his calling. How come the Elders can get together and go shoot "stuff" and call it an activity? I wish the Relief Society could do that! Dan is now the proud owner of his very own clay pigeon launcher. He is just itching to go "shooting" again.
As for me...my life a a SAHM is always CRAZY! The last couple of weeks I haven't felt quite like myself. I went into the doctor and had some blood work done and some other tests as well. Turns out that my thyroid is dangerously low and my levels are frighteningly out of control. The doctors are taking drastic measures to level things out. Right now, it could be a coma or a seizure if I don't balance out soon. It's a relief in some ways to know why I have felt so out of sorts lately; however, I am sad to say that until things settle down, I won't be able to run the 1/2 marathon in June.
So, that's what's been going on around here!

Laura's Latest Venture
Are you ready to hear what I'm up to now? My friend and I are starting a preschool! Now that my kids are getting a little older, I wanted to do something that would still allow me time to be with my kids and use my education at the same time. Teaching preschool seemed like the perfect fit! It will be two days a week for 2 1/2 hours each session. Lyndsi and Brady will be able to attend when they are not in school and Karlee can be with me the whole time. I'm thrilled! Plus, the preschool will be held at my friend's home...which means that I get out! Yeah! Planning the curriculum has been so much fun...I almost had forgotten how much enjoyment I got out of teaching. We have so many ideas, it will be hard to pick and choose. We hope to create an amazing school. Now, we just need to find our students and get them enrolled!

Marathon Madness

As I sat watching the Biggest Looser last season, this insane thought entered my mind, "You could run a 1/2 marathon. If the contestants can run a full fledge marathon by the end of the show, you could run a 1/2."
The thought stayed with me and soon turned in to a New Year's resolution to PREPARE to run a 1/2 marathon. I had all year to PREPARE to run. This was something I seriously thought I could do. Then my good friend, Curt, raised the bar a little higher for me and told me that he is preparing to run a 1/2 and that I should join him. Then he told me that the marathon is JUNE 12th!!!!
Instead of a whole year just to PREPARE, I am now training to run a 1/2 in six months. I am going from ground zero. It truly is maddening! I am seriously insane. The treadmill kicks my butt daily and the goal seems so far out of reach. I've enlisted the help of my hubby, Dan, to be my running partner. I just hope that I will be able to keep up with him. I have never done anything so difficult in all my life...yet, each day when I'm done running/walking, I am so proud of myself! I really hope that I can do this!
I want this to be more than just some insane thought or silly New Year's resolution. I want this to become a reality and a huge accomplishment. Wish me luck!

Brady's Birthday Party

On January 30th, Brady celebrated his fifth birthday the only
way our little guy could....playing with Legos!
First, the kids created their very own Lego racing cars.

Lyndsi and Brady took time to make the perfect car.

Ben made an awesome truck.
Lyndsi created a sweet blue jeep.

Bryson made a killer boat car.

McKinnon was ready to race.

Brady spent over an hour building this creation.

Trevon and Issy helped to build an amazing
convertible bus that seated eleven Lego guys!

Ready to see the action? Just push play!

Thanks to all of our family and friends who came to celebrate Brady's Birthday.
A special shout out to http://www.readyraceparty.com/ who made a five year old's
birthday dream come true!
